Yeah, so I have ten free days.  I think I have been logged in for a total of one hour.  It’s been so long since I have logged in, It’s going to take me a week to get up to speed.  There is hours of research to figure out how to apply skill points.  Have no idea what my fighting patterns where/are.  All my friends lists have been delayed, so I have no clue who is on, and no I don’t remember their names.

In a nutshell, I really don’t give a dame about the free trial and I am glad I could waist it and be some statistic for them.  So it goes.

It’s been a few months since I have wanted to try this out and I finally have; I am using Elmah on one of my website to track errors.  Thankfully there are very few, but the experience of getting it setup is always worth it.

I am impressed on how many ways it can log, to name a few there are MSSql, Oracle, SQLite, MS Access, VistaDB, XML, memory, and others I believe. I opted for the SQLite option, as Elmah builds the database on the fly if it doesn’t exist (same with VistaDB).

My main reason I didn’t set it up right away was I just couldn’t find a flat guide on how to set it up.  Nothing really says, do this, this, then this.  Well it’s a slow day today, so I took another quick look at the website http://code.google.com/p/elmah/, downloaded the source, and moved forward.  There is this neat demo you can run from the source by running the demo.cmd file in the root of the zip file.

That demo, it’s web.config, and the web.config located under \samples, was all I needed to get started.  Pretty easy to add the parts to the web.config of my website and get everything working.  A real simple package to get up and running.

Next up, work on filtering out items I don’t want logged in Elmah.

So I received another email from Blizzard  offering 10 free days of WoW.  Sure why not, I’ll run around again for free.  I am sure glad I didn’t start the free trial yet, I have been loading patches for days!  One of the patches was a 1GB is size, I just left that one for when I went to sleep.  Being extra busy at work and getting he house ready for Thanksgiving, I have literally spent five or six days loading patches here and there.

How long has it been, well from what I can tell from file dates is June of 2007, which is about the last time I received the 10 day free time to load up Burning Crusade.  This free trial isn’t loading the new upgrade, but I am sure they just want to get me back in so I want to buy the new version–thingy.  (or maybe get my machine up to date, who knows)

In case anyone cares, there is one main reason I don’t play WoW any longer, I am charged sales tax on the subscription.  It is the only online game I have ever played which charges me sales tax, and I hate it, so I don’t pay or play.  And a minor reason, is you can only grind for so many hours of your life…

GM is been in the shit for decades, they are just pulling new excusses now

They couldn’t sell cars in the 90’s so they came up with leasing for the masses

Then they had all these used cars sitting around from turning over leases, so that caused the introduction of “Certified” used cars to keep those moving too.  This made “Like” new cars to middle America.

Now people are truly broke and hold on to their cars until the government says it’s unfit for the road.  They have no choice.  They have no money left and nobody is extending them credit.

You know, frigelins, those little critters that live somewhere in the refrigerator and eat your food when nobody is around.  They seem to be most prominent in work refrigerators.

..When all the stores start crying that nobody is buying anything and they want their bailout now.

The next six months are going to get worse and worse.

I am diving head-first into the world of .NET 3.5.  And not having the support of my employer, I am flying solo, using the Express versions of Visual studio.

I ordered this, and hoping it will be a promising reference for me.

Pro C# 2008 and the .NET 3.5 Platform, Fourth Edition (Windows.Net).

Update (10/23/2008):
Well truth be told the book is excellent, a very good reference to add to my collection.  It doesn’t have a lot of ASP.NET information in it and I really need help in this area.  See, simply, I am UI challenged.  When it comes to writing web front ends, forget it.  Sure I have done a good bit of web work, but most of it was hacking on stuff already put together.

No I wonder my next step.  Apress has two C# ASP.NET books and I am not sure which one to get.  There is a Pro book and a Beginners book.

Beginning ASP.NET 3.5 in C# 2008: From Novice to Professional, Second Edition (Beginning from Novice to Professional)

Pro ASP.NET 3.5 in C# 2008, Second Edition (Windows.Net)

They both have good ratings but I wonder if the Pro version will just be more information that I care about and may skip over some basic things I don’t understand about web UI design.  On the other hand the basic book may be too basic and not add any “meat” to its explainations.  I don’t learn as well if I don’t understand why something is doing what it is.  I guess it’s time for a trip to the bookstore and flip throuh some pages.  I wonder if my family will ever let me out to do that…

Can’t believe I just turned 40.

That was quick

I Really hate chain eMails, I really do…

You know what I am going to say next, “but this one…”

Well your correct, not sure where the guy got 85B from, but it sure would pump some money back into the system.  The only problem with it is that most Americans, unfortunately, are not responsible enough to pay off their debts.  They would think they were rich and fall further into debt.  You see this happen all the time with lottery winners.  How great will it be if it really did happen?!?

I would love to pay of my house and purchase a new motorcycle.  You know, I wouldn’t pressure my employer for such a large raise anymore either.  Without my mortgage, my family will be able to build our wealth again without raising costs on my employer.  Hmmm

By the way, if you know who originally wrote this, please let me know so I may give credit where it’s due!

OK, I really do hate chain eMails, I really do, and still do.  I should of never posted this without checking at least the numbers.  Pfft, I am ashamed.

So 85,000,000,000 / 200,000,000 = 425; not 425,000.  So $425 per person is more like the current administrations attempt to spark the economy, which basically I used to buy groceries.

This idea sounds just crazy enough to possibly work, so naturally it won’t
be given serious consideration.  How great is our government??

Hi Pals,

I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve
It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000 bona-fide U.S.
Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child.
So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college – it’ll be there

Save in a bank – create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car – create jobs

Invest in the market – capital drives growth

Pay for your parent’s medical insurance – health care improves

Enable Dead-beat Dads to come clean – or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who
lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting
back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do it…instead of
trickling out a puny $1,000.00 ( ‘vote buy’ ) economic incentive that is
being proposed
by one of our candidates for President.

If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every adult U S
Citizen 18+!

As for AIG – liquidate it.

Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here’s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t.

Sure it’s a crazy idea that can ‘never work.’

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell “Economic Boom”?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion.

We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington
DC.

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5
Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Can you imagine what might happen if the bailout, $700 billion was given as
a We Deserve It Dividend?
